PROGRESS ON REMOVAL OF SOLID WASTE, CLEANING AND TREE PLANTING ACTIVITIES
Introduction:
The rehabilitation activities on Nairobi  Rivers basin are on-going at various parts of the basin.  The work has been supplemented by the engagement of youths under the Kazi Kwa Vijana (KKV) Initiative.  The main activities include;
Removal of solid waste from illegal dumpsites within estates, the river basin and riparian reserve

  • Clearing of the river channel
  • Tree planting in cleared and cleaned areas.

Current status
  • Nairobi North District
  • Kijabe Street Area (Demonstration Stretch)

All the solid waste in Kijabe street area has been removed. The completion of the activity had been slowed down by the conflicts between recyclers and car washers with the Ministry. Following the exit of the invaders, final touches on the clean-up were conducted.
