The National Environment Management Authority in conjunction with the Kenya Meteorological Department conducted an air quality monitoring exercise in Nairobi from 27th to 29th June 2017.
The mobile air monitoring laboratory was used. The exercise focused on observing various air quality parameters such as carbon, Sulphur dioxide, Ozone, Ammonia, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide among others.
NEMA and KMD officers monitoring air pollution in Nairobi’s industrial areas
The air monitoring is critical in determining trends and assess the impact of air pollution on human health and environment. This data is also important in development of State of Environment Report, a statutory requirement under EMCA cap 387.
